But is there a difference between the two?

According to mindfulness instructor, Tom Cronin, there is a difference — but neither is better than the other.


In fact, he uses both regularly.

Tom explains that he uses meditation as a transcendence practice which allows him to go beyond the thinking process and experience a level of mental stillness he calls "pure consciousness".

Mindfulness, on the other hand, is a practice which actively engages his mind in things such as affirmations or visualizations. Or simply being aware while doing everyday things like drinking a glass of water.

Now this confusion is just one of the many obstacles that stop people from enjoying the incredible benefits of meditation.
